Since 1982 this college has carried higher education into a rural and tribal heartland. We teach the arts and the sciences at undergraduate level, and we open the doors of distance and open learning to students who study far from any campus.

Who we are
Rooted in Kherajkhat, open to the wider world
The college grew from a simple resolve: that young people in this part of Assam should not have to leave home to reach good higher education.
The campus stands in the historic Kherajkhat Mouza, the birthplace of the Vaishnavite saint Sri Sri Madhabdev, and draws its students from across the Lakhimpur district. It is permanently affiliated to Dibrugarh University and is listed under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. In 2017 the college was accredited by the UGC NAAC.
Teaching runs in both Assamese and English, and the college also hosts study centres that bring postgraduate and open university programmes within reach of the district.

Distance and open learning
Postgraduate study through the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning of Dibrugarh University, and degree, diploma and certificate courses of the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University.
